Hark can book a table, order lunch, and pay a bill by working through websites. What it cannot do on its own is pick up a phone. Hark's published plans include no phone number, no calling, and no SMS. AgentLine fills that gap with a real US number for a hosted phone agent that Hark can set up in its browser, for $2.00 a month plus $0.10 a minute.
The Short Answer
To give Hark a phone number, ask Hark to read the AgentLine skill at agentline.cloud/skill.md, create a hosted phone agent in the AgentLine dashboard, and buy a US number once you approve. The hosted agent then makes and answers real calls and receives inbound SMS. Hark reads the transcripts afterward. Setup takes about ten minutes and needs no Twilio account or telecom setup. The full step-by-step guide lives at Hark + AgentLine.
What Hark Is
Hark is a personal AI assistant from Hark, the company led by CEO Brett Adcock. The company raised a $700 million Series A in May 2026 and released Hark Pro on October 6, 2026. Hark Pro runs on the web, iOS, and Android. It has a free plan and two paid tiers, at $20 and $100 a month, which raise usage limits rather than unlock features.
The part that matters here is Handoff, Hark's computer-use agent. Handoff works on its own secure computer with a full browser and uses websites the way a person would: it clicks, types, and scrolls. Hark says it checks in before actions that need your approval, and it keeps card details and passwords in an encrypted vault.
Why Hark Needs a Phone Number
A browser agent is only as useful as the websites it can reach. A lot of everyday tasks still end with "call us to book":
- A dentist, salon, or mechanic with no online booking
- A restaurant that holds tables only by phone
- A clinic that confirms appointments with a callback
- A contractor who replies to quotes by phone instead of email
- A service that sends a verification code by SMS
Hark's own homepage lists finding a dentist as an example request. Finding the dentist is a web task. Booking the appointment is often a phone call. AgentLine gives Hark's plan a phone line for that last step.
How Hark and AgentLine Split the Work
- Hark plans the task, drafts the phone agent's prompt, and works in the AgentLine dashboard through its browser.
- AgentLine provides the number, carries the call, transcribes the caller, and speaks the replies.
- You approve the prompt, the number purchase, and who gets called.
Hark never handles audio. The hosted AgentLine agent runs the live conversation from the prompt you approved, and Hark reads the transcript once the call ends.
How to Set It Up
- Create an AgentLine account at agentline.cloud yourself.
- In Hark, ask it to read https://agentline.cloud/skill.md and open the AgentLine dashboard in its browser.
- Have Hark draft a phone agent prompt, for example a receptionist that books appointments, and approve it.
- Approve the purchase of a US number ($2.00/month).
- Call the number from your own phone, then ask Hark to read the transcript back to you.
Here is a prompt you can paste into Hark to start:
Read https://agentline.cloud/skill.md. Open agentline.cloud in your browser and tell me what is needed to set up a hosted AgentLine phone agent for me. Check in with me before you buy a number or place a call.
What It Costs
- Phone number: $2.00/month, US
- Calls: $0.10/minute, billed per second after a one-minute minimum; a 0-second call is free
- Inbound SMS: $0.02/message on the same number
- Hark: separate, on Hark's free, $20, or $100 monthly plan
What to Know Before You Start
- The number reaches your hosted AgentLine phone agent, not your Hark chat thread. Talking to Hark in its own apps is a Hark feature and separate from this number.
- Live lookups during a call, such as checking your calendar mid-conversation, need a persistent webhook service that AgentLine can reach.
- The phone agent should say it is an AI assistant at the start of every call and give any required recording or transcription notice.
- This is an independent AgentLine guide, not an official Hark integration.
Templates That Fit Hark
Hark is a personal assistant, so the closest starting points are the personal ones. The AI Scheduling Agent books time by phone around your rules. The AI Dinner Reservation Agent calls restaurants and confirms the table. The AI Personal Voice Assistant lets you call your agent and hand it work. Ask Hark to apply any of them to your new AgentLine agent.
Bottom Line
Hark is built to finish tasks through websites. AgentLine covers the ones that still need a call or a text. Give Hark the skill, approve a $2.00 number, and the tasks that used to stop at "call us to book" can get done. If you use another agent too, the same setup works for OpenAI Dots, Claude Code, and the rest of the runtime guides.
